L&T pushes Green agenda, wins order to build Solar-cum-Energy Storage Plant

(File photo/ Image Source: freepik) The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) vertical of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has won a domestic order to build a grid-connected 185MW Solar PV Plant along with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) having multitudes of MWh capacity. The Solar PV plant at Kajra in Lakshisarai district will be a key element in Bihar’s plans to harness renewable energy for sustainable energy solutions towards combating climate change and meeting demand growth. The BESS, with a capacity of 254MWh will enable storing solar energy during low-demand period and discharging when the demand peaks. One major problem with renewable energy sources like wind, solar and hydro is intermittency. This means they cannot be relied on constantly since, for example, the sun might stop shining or it might be a still, windless day. To fill gaps, users often rely on diesel generators or batteries. DAS Solar, the China based solar cell and module technology company, has launched a new n-type PRO solar panel with the highest conversion efficiency of 22.72% and power output of 635W targeting utility scale power plants segment. The company says it has used its proprietary n-type TOPCon 3.0 cell technology for the new module along with a high-density encapsulation. It has a bifaciality that reaches 80%.
