We are Betting Big on Edge Computing, Big Data Handling, Cloud Connectivity and Computing in the Test & Measurement Field – Rajaram T R, Country Head India, Gantner Instruments India Private Limited

Q. Could you provide us with an overview of Gantner Instruments and its operations in India? Additionally, we’d like to learn more about the test and measurement solutions you offer and the industries you cater to?

We Gantner Instruments are a test & measurement company specializing in providing high speed data acquisition hardware coupled with intuitive software for test & measurement applications. We cater to various segments of the industry like automotive, aerospace, energy, civil, R&D etc. Our DAQ systems comes in to play whenever the customer needs to acquire data at a high speed and high resolution as part of their testing & validation needs.

Gantner Instruments is headquartered in Schruns, Austria with 09 subsidiaries and 50+ sales partners across the globe. Gantner India, the Indian subsidiary was formed way back in 2008 and is currently headquarter at Chennai with fully trained technical and customer support personnel to support our Indian customers fully.

Q. Transitioning to the Mobility Industry, could you share insights into the array of data acquisition solutions Gantner Instruments provides for the EV industry?

As mentioned earlier our focus is to help the manufactures with precise high-resolution data as part of testing & validation of their products. The three critical components namely the battery, inverter and motor of the EV ecosystem needs extensive data acquisition at high sampling speeds as part of its testing. Our Q.series X line of DAQ systems are designed keeping this in mind with technical features like 1500 V DC galvanic isolation, 24 bits resolution, KHz & MHz sampling speeds and many more. The Q.series X DAQ system supports measurement of all required parameters like high voltage, high current, temperature, strain, vibrations, power calculations etc which are common in the EV space.

Q. Could you dive deeper into the significance of data acquisition and power analyzers in EV and Battery Testing?

Synchronized time stamped real time data is critical when it comes to data acquisition in EV testing.  This calls for IO modules with in-built signal conditioners coupled with real time FPGA based controllers that can be programmed as per customer requirement. The industry also looks for openness, modularity and flexibility of the measurement systems in a big way now. Keeping all these in mind the Gantner DAQ ecosystem is designed to be completely open, scalable & flexible fully.

Power analysis in electric vehicle (EV) technology involves examining the various aspects related to the consumption, generation, and management of electrical power within the vehicle system. We Gantner Instruments has come up with our own power analyser hardware and software where in customer can see the actual parameters involved in real time. Overall, power analysis in EVs is essential for optimizing performance, efficiency, and reliability while ensuring the seamless integration of electrical power systems within the vehicle architecture.

Q. Could you elaborate on Gantner’s leading monitoring, control, and analytical solutions tailored for the renewable energy industry?

To have a focussed approach, we have formed a separate company named Gantner Instruments Environment Solutions GmbH to cater to the measurement and monitoring needs in the renewable energy sector. Gantner provides PV monitoring and control solutions for utility scale PV Power Plants. The Gantner hardware portfolio includes string monitoring devices, DC and AC combiner boxes, weather stations, cloud-based SaaS, power quality meters, data loggers and the power plant controller “Q. reader”. We have now provided our monitoring solutions for projects in 47 countries with a total capacity of 8 GW and growing.

Q. How does Gantner Instruments differentiate itself from its competitors? Moreover, how does the company ensure customer satisfaction and sustain its competitive edge in the market?

Our focus always has been to support customers with a fully open, scalable and flexible platform for their data acquisition needs. We take utmost care while we design our products and make sure that our DAQ devices can be used for multiple testing applications and boasts of excellent technical features like 24-bit resolution, Permanent 3-way galvanic isolations, completely hot-swappable, independent operation with (or) without a PC and so on. Our DAQ devices are easy to use and this makes it the preferred choice for all leading OEM’s and end-users in the automotive space. Our R&D set-up is quite strong and we keep on scaling up our product range as per the industry demands.
