Jupiter International Limited has secured a ₹64.95 crore Letter of Empanelment (LoE) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and maintenance of off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems (SPWPS) in Maharashtra.
The project has been awarded under the state-run Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana (MTSKPY) and marks Jupiter International’s strategic entry into the solar pump segment, strengthening its position as an integrated renewable energy solutions provider.
MSEDCL Solar Pump Project to Accelerate Solar Irrigation in Maharashtra
The MSEDCL solar pump project aims to solarize agricultural irrigation in off-grid and underserved regions of Maharashtra, with a strong focus on small and marginal farmers. By replacing diesel-based irrigation systems with clean solar solutions, the initiative supports cost savings for farmers while advancing the state’s decarbonisation goals.
Under the empanelment, Jupiter International will deploy off-grid solar water pumping systems designed to deliver reliable irrigation, improve water access, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels in rural agricultural belts.
Leadership Perspective on Solar Irrigation Expansion
Commenting on the development, Mr Akash Garodia, Promoter and Whole-Time Director at Jupiter International Limited, said:
“This Letter of Empanelment from MSEDCL marks a critical step in our journey to deliver impactful and sustainable solutions where they matter most—at the grassroots. By bringing solar irrigation to underserved farming communities, we are not only replacing diesel with clean energy but also aiming to enhance farmer incomes, improve water access, and support India’s broader goal of agricultural decarbonisation.”
Farmer Awareness and Outreach Programme
As part of the project rollout, Jupiter International will also implement a farmer awareness initiative to ensure smooth adoption of solar pumping systems. The outreach programme will include:
- WhatsApp and SMS campaigns
- Regional engagement networks
- Educational communication on scheme benefits, application procedures, and installation timelines
The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in improving awareness and accelerating on-ground implementation under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana.
Strategic Expansion Aligned with Manufacturing Strength
Jupiter International’s foray into the solar pump business aligns with its long-term vision of accelerating India’s clean energy transition through innovation, scale, and sustainability. The expansion builds on the company’s strong foundation in solar manufacturing and its growing renewable energy portfolio.
The company operates a state-of-the-art 959 MW high-efficiency solar PV cell manufacturing facility in Himachal Pradesh, positioning it to scale solar-powered applications by integrating advanced technologies, leveraging domestic manufacturing capabilities, and maintaining a strong focus on quality and reliability.
With this project, Jupiter International strengthens its presence across the solar energy value chain, spanning manufacturing, decentralised applications, and long-term renewable energy deployment.
