Infosys Attainds Carbon Neutrality for the Fourth Consecutive Year

According to the ESG report for FY 2023 released by Infosys, the company has attained carbon neutrality for the fourth consecutive year. The ESG reprot mentions its adoption of renewable energy sources has contributed to 57.9 per cent of electricity for its India operations.

According to the report, Infosys has installed 14.4 MW of solar PV panels on the rooftops of its office buildings. The report further mentions that the company operates a 40 MW captive solar power plant in Sira, Karnataka, totalling its installed solar capacity to 60 MW.

On Supply Chain, Infosys reported that 66 per cent of its spending on suppliers in India was allocated to local suppliers in fiscal 2023. The company emphasised that it did not experience any significant negative environmental or social impacts within its supply chain during the same period.

Addressing stakeholders, Nilanjan Roy, Chief Financial Officer at Infosys said, “With 1,35,355 women making 39.4 per cent of the workforce, we are making steady progress toward our goal of 45 per cent women in the organisation by 2030. We launched an exclusive learning channel for our suppliers too, this year. It drives ESG learning and best practices while providing learners an opportunity to discuss, ideate and engage on ESG topics.”

Meanwhile on Client Engagements and Innovation, the report highlighted Infosys’ increasing focus on sustainability in client engagements. The company has signed up for several engagements with clients, including 10 projects featuring ESG reporting services and Green IT offerings. Additionally, Infosys has piloted its block chain traceability solution with two clients, showcasing its commitment to innovative and sustainable business practices.
